Ribbon-cutting today for new batting cages for WB Thunder baseball

April 24, 2026 – West Bend, Wi – A ribbon cutting is scheduled for Saturday, April 24, 2026, for new batting cages for the West Bend Thunder baseball league at Riverside Park.

Scott Schepp, president of West Bend Thunder said, “About 4 years ago we began thinking of a large project to allow our organization to “give back” to the community.

West Bend is a baseball town and there are no publicly accessible batting cages.

We wanted high-quality cages that would last for a long time.

Lots of planning, tons of burgers and brats, pouring drinks at festivals and serving the community wherever/whenever we could.

Many people donated time, money, and effort to make this happen.

It showed our young players that big things can be achieved when we work hard together.

This is a showcase not only for Thunder but for the entire West Bend community.

A dad can practice with his son, girls can practice hitting and pitching with their friends, or a mom can bring the neighbor kids down to work on their skills without there being a scheduled team practice.

Players will be able to use this for many years to come.”

Today’s ribbon-cutting is at 1 p.m. Families are encouraged to bring a helmet and bat and fans should wear their favorite jersey.
