Obituary | Richard Allen Laws, 58,

December 26, 2020 – Richard Allen Laws, 58, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on December 22, 2020.

He was born on November 7, 1962, in Greensburg, IN, to Robert (Bud) and Mary (Gault) Laws. He grew up in Westport, IN (Decatur Co.). He was involved in 4H with cattle and many electric projects; played golf, basketball and ran cross country and was involved in FFA at South Decatur High School.

He graduated from Purdue University and was a member of Farmhouse Fraternity. His junior year he represented his fraternity as the Grand Prix go-cart driver. Upon graduation, he began a successful 35 year career with Gehl Co/Manitou Group as a Regional Sales Manager. In 2001, he became part owner of Letts Hardware and Equipment.

He married Lisa Widau on July 24, 1993 at Greensburg Methodist Church and were blessed with three children. One of his favorite parts about being a father was either coaching or attending their activities/events. Each year the favorite family activity involved boating in one of Kentucky’s beautiful lakes. He also enjoyed family vacations, woodworking projects, cheering for the Boilermakers, attending Oaks Day, a glass of bourbon, and his mom’s red velvet cake.

He is survived by his parents, his wife, his children Erika Banta (Luke), Olivia and Spencer. Also surviving are his sisters Cheryl Asher (Mark) and Cindy Wilkerson (Dave) as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be Monday at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home in LaGrange, KY from 4 p.m. –  8 p.m. and the funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. following 10 a.m. visitation; interment will take place at Floydsburg Cemetery.

In compliance with current restrictions and regulations, guests are required to wear masks and observe social distancing.
