Obituary | Ronald “Ron” Bollhoffer, 83, of West Bend

June 3, 2021 – West Bend, WI – Ronald “Ron” Bollhoffer, 83, of West Bend was called home to his heavenly Father on Monday, May 31, 2021.

He was born on October 28, 1937, to the late August and Sophie (nee Dziobas) Bollhoffer in Chicago, IL. Ron grew up in Cudahy and graduated from Cudahy High School in 1955. He honorably served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany.

Ron graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with his bachelor’s degree and went on to receive his master’s degree from Marquette University. He had an exciting career of 30 years at the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department and retired as a Deputy Inspector – 2nd in command.

Ron later worked as security support for Presidents Ford, Reagan, and Bush. He later graduated from the FBI academy. Ron then taught part-time at MATC in the Police Science program. After retirement from the Sheriff’s Department, he was hired by a large security company that created a security program at Mitchell Field after 9/11 and the Milwaukee Transit Security Company.

Ron enjoyed playing handball, where he was a Wisconsin State Doubles Champion. He was a former president of the Big Cedar Lake Cigar Club. Ron loved sitting in his recliner watching old movies eating popcorn. He also enjoyed watching sports and was a Green Bay Packer, Wisconsin Badger, and Milwaukee Brewer fan.

Together Ron and Sharon liked traveling and spending time with friends. He went to the casino and played the slot machines. Ron was very educated in Politics. He charmed his audience with his stories that people never got tired of hearing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and all his grandchildren and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Those Ron leaves behind to cherish his memory include his devoted and loving wife, Sharon Bollhoffer; three daughters, Kelly (David) Manz, Jill Kopp, and Carrie (Jed) Zautner; five grandchildren, Cole Manz, Libby Manz, Margot Manz, Kayla (Cam) Schaller, and Brad (Fiancé Sami) Kopp; two great-grandchildren, Heath and Laina Schaller; a sister-in-law, Pat Bollhoffer; two nephews, Roy (Holly) Bollhoffer Jr. and Rob (Kate) Bollhoffer; other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Kopp, and two brothers, Roy and Rick Bollhoffer.

A memorial service in remembrance of Ron will be held on Sunday, June 13, 2021, at 4:30 p.m. at Northbrook Church, 4014 WI-167, Richfield, WI. with military honors to follow.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Sunday from 2 p.m. until 4:15 p.m.
