April 9, 2025 – Fredonia, Wi – If you haven’t heard of Drake Kanzenbach yet, you will. The 10-year-old is a force to be reckoned with when he puts his mind to something. The fourth grader from St. Lucas Lutheran in Kewaskum is participating in the schools’ Kids Heart Challenge. Drake said he’s learned about CPR and can recognize the signs of a stroke. If you have a second, he’ll tell you about it and he’ll ask that you help with his fundraiser to support the cause.
Drake’s goal last year was to raise $250 for the American Heart Association; he was the top fundraiser in his whole school collecting over $1400. This year, Drake set a goal of raising $1,500.
“One of the big reasons I’m doing this is because my dad’s dad has heart problems,” said Drake. “The money helps to get more medical equipment and raise awareness.”
Aside from working the phones and making cold calls, Drake went to his dad’s work and talked about the Kids Heart Challenge.
“One of the guys there, who Drake never met before, was so impressed with his pitch and the bravery at 10 to come in and talk to people,” said mom Jodi Janisse-Kanzenbach. “It was a proud mom moment.’
During the interview Drake wore his St. Lucas School grey hooded sweatshirt and sported his gold medal from the American Heart Association.
Humble, and with a servant’s heart he said he knew he reached his goal but had a little less than 20 days left to do better.
“Tonight, one of the servers at my mom’s restaurant, The Precinct Tap & Table in Germantown, the server will donate half of her tips to the Kids Heart Challenge,” said Drake.
“Please support the Kids Heart Challenge.”
