Washington Co., WI – It is the giving season, and the United Way of Washington County has a number of local non-profits that are in need and worthy of your support.

Randy Averill is co-chair of United Way of Washington County 2022 campaign. “The local United Way supports 20 nonprofit organizations in the community including The Threshold,” he said.

Mike Hoffman is executive director of The Threshold, an organization that helps people with developmental disabilities. “We do a lot of different services but our to birth-to-three program is really outstanding,” he said.

”Birth to 3 is a state-mandated program that provides in-home therapy and education to Washington County families who have a child under the age of three who may be falling behind in development.

“The goal of our program is to provide support and guidance to parents and other caregivers that will help with their child’s daily routines and activities in ways that will promote optimal growth and development within the environment they are most comfortable….. their home.  Services are voluntary and are provided at little or no cost to families,” Hoffman said.

The Threshold also serves adults looking for work in the community or in a supported setting. We serve people with Alzheimer’s, dementia, frail elderly, people who enjoy socializing with their peers, people who suffered a traumatic brain injury or stroke and people who are in their retirement years.

The dedicated staff care for the hundreds of people in The Threshold’s adult programs.

The organization is long-standing and well-respected by the community.
