VIDEO | Auto Safety Center protects customers on theft of catalytic converters

West Bend, WI – Auto Safety Center in West Bend has jumped into action in an effort to protect its customers regarding pending theft of catalytic converters.

In May 2021 the Germantown Police Chief circulated warning to neighbors about the increase in thefts of catalytic converters.

“Police in the community have seen an increase in these types of thefts in recent months.
Due to a limited supply, and the rising cost of precious metals, these items are in high demand and are worth good money,” said Chief Mike Snow.
Auto Safety Center heard the story and came up with a plan to use a high-temp paint to mark the metal.

“This is a free service we will offer upon request,” said Auto Safety Center’s Mike Hilzey. “At least this is something you will be able to tell police in order to help them track the stolen item or flag the recycling centers.”
