RE: Application for Washington County Board of Supervisors [District #22]. Sent via e-mail to: to: don.kriefall@co.washington.wi.us. Please confirm the receipt of this application letter.

Dear Mr. Kriefall:

With this letter and biographical profile, I am applying to fill the District #22 seat on the Washington County Board of Supervisors that recently became open because of the resignation of Rock Brandner.

My biographical profile is as follows:

• I am a fourth generation resident of the Village of Richfield in Washington County. My grandfather attended the Amy Belle Elementary School in Richfield back in the 1930’s which is where my two children have gone to school these past several years.

• With honor, courage and distinction, I served my country as a U.S. Army combat veteran part of which included service in Iraq (Tikrit and Ramadi). I rose to the rank of Sergeant (E-5) and received several military awards including: 1) Iraq Campaign Medal, 2) Two Army Commendation Medals, 3) Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and 4) An Army Service Ribbon. I also am a life member of VFW Post 3358 in the Village of Slinger.

• After my military service, I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and owned and operated several successful businesses in Richfield including a photography studio (Danah Zoulek Photography) and the restoration of an abandoned gravel pit (Scenic Pit LLC). Upon completion of the gravel pit’s restoration, this 40-acre property will serve the community as a non-profit equestrian therapy center for disabled veterans and autistic children. As a serviceconnected disabled veteran myself, I want to help others with disabilities in this area.

Over the past five years, I have become very knowledgeable on the many intricacies of federal, state, county and local laws because of my own personal experience in the court system. In 2015, the Village of Richfield tried to prevent me from restoring an abandoned gravel pit in the village so I had no choice but to take them to court which resulted in a very favorable Wisconsin Court of Appeals decision in 2017 for businesses like mine throughout the State of Wisconsin (Scenic Pit LLC v. Village of Richfield – a copy of this decision is attached along with a related Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article).

As an army veteran, I have served my country; as a current business owner, I am serving my community; and now as the next Washington County Supervisor for District #22, I want to serve all of the taxpayers of Washington County with courage, commitment and integrity. I will work diligently to promote common sense conservative values, fiscal responsibility, greater citizen input and restored ethics on the Washington County Board of Supervisors. I also believe in term limits for all levels of government (including the Washington County Board of Supervisors).

In short, I have a strong desire to serve the citizens of Washington County and, with my military, educational and business background, I will be able to offer fresh ideas and “think outside of the box” to responsibly resolve many of the problems facing our county both today and in the future. I look forward to the opportunity to serve on the Washington County Board of Supervisors in District #22.

Please schedule me for an interview for this open county board seat.  Thank you.

Sincerely,

Danah L. Zoulek
