Tractor fire at farm on CTH S in Town of Herman | By Iron Ridge Chief Jason Keller

April 15, 2026 – Town of Herman, Wi – On Wednesday, April 15 at 9.33 a.m. the Iron Ridge Fire Department and mutual aid partners Hustisford and Neosho Fire Departments were paged to W333 County Road S in the Town of Herman for a tractor on fire.

The initial page indicated the tractor was 15 feet away from a barn with approximately 600 cattle inside and had a full tank of fuel. Iron Ridge units went en route at 9.40 a.m. arrived on scene at 9:50 a.m.

Upon arrival the tractor was found fully engulfed with fire extending to the nearby free stall barn.

A 1.75-inch pre-connected line was deployed from Iron Ridge’s engine to extinguish the fire that had extended to the barn and continued to protect the exposure and extinguish the remaining fire from the tractor.

Approximately 2,000 gallons of water were used to control and extinguish the fire. 1,000 gallons of tank water from Iron Ridge’s engines and 1,000 gallons via drop tank.

The tractor was located approximately 600 feet from the driveway access. The tractor was in use at the time of the fire.

Initial investigation indicates an origin within the engine compartment of the tractor with an exact cause undetermined.
