Two new members elected to Cedar Community Board of Directors

Nov. 21, 2017 – Washington Co., WI – Charles O’Meara and Rev. Eric Kirkegaard were recently elected to the Cedar Community Board of Directors.

O’Meara is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Marquette University Law School. His professional career includes partner at O’Meara, Eckert, Pouros and Gonring and general counsel and senior managing director of private equity for The Ziegler Companies, retiring in 2017.

He was formerly on the board of directors of Certify Data Solutions in California; Masterpiece Living in Florida; Ridgeston Bank and The Threshold in Wisconsin.

O’Meara currently serves on the board of directors for St. Joseph’s Hospital – Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin Health System and Orthosensor, Inc. in Florida.

“Cedar Community has an admirable history of serving the needs of our aging citizens, and it’s a privilege to help as the organization charts its journey of service for the future,” said O’Meara.

O’Meara is married to Karen and has three children.

Rev. Eric Kirkegaard has served as pastor at Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum since 1998. He has a bachelor’s degree from St. Olaf College in Minnesota with a major in studio art and a minor in Asian studies.

After graduation, he spent a year teaching English in Taiwan and working for a Taiwanese engineering firm doing acoustical design. He returned to Chicago and worked as a consultant in architectural acoustics.

He felt a calling that God had a different plan for him and went back to school for his Master of Divinity from Harvard Divinity School.

Kirkegaard currently serves on the ethics committee for St. Joseph’s Hospital and in many capacities within the wider Wisconsin Conference of the United Church of Christ.

“I’ve been involved with Cedar Community in many ways since I arrived in Kewaskum, almost 20 years. I’m humbled to now add my voice to the board as together we continue discerning where God is leading this organization,” said Kirkegaard.

He is married to Laura and has two children who he enjoys performing with in Spotlight Production’s community theater.

O’Meara and Kirkegaard will both serve a three year-term on the Cedar Community Board of Directors.

“I am honored to have Charles O’Meara and Rev. Eric Kirkegaard join the Cedar Community Corporate Board. Their work experience and community involvement will help guide Cedar Community on a successful path,” said Lynn Olson, Cedar Community CEO.
