VIDEO | United Way of Washington County celebrates record-breaking campaign

February 11, 2021 – Washington Co., WI – Thanks to the incredible generosity of people in our community, more people will now be able to obtain emergency services, educational support, and preventative programming this year.

United Way of Washington County announced today that it exceeded their fundraising goal, raising $1,725,958 during the 2020 campaign. This total exceeds the organization’s previous record of $1,710,343, which was raised in 2019. The 2020 United Way Campaign was led by five Women in Business, including Deb Cahoon, West Bend Mutual Insurance, Jacci Gambucci, Piranha Promotions, Prudence Pick Hway, Pick Heaters, Rose Petitte, Horicon Bank and Amy Salberg, Salberg | Tuffnell Law.

“In an unprecedented year with unprecedented results, this speaks volumes about the generosity of Washington County.  It is because of our donors we were able to achieve these results,” said Deb Cahoon, 2020 Co-Chair.

“This was not the campaign we signed up for, but we were so proud of how this community rallied to take care of their own.  We are so thankful to everyone who contributed at any level, as well as those who donated their time to help us not only achieve our goal, but exceed it,” said Jacci Gambucci, 2020 Co-Chair.

“I am so proud to have been part of the women in business leadership team,” said Pick Hway. “And even more proud of our community for its support of the campaign.”

In addition to the record-breaking total, United Way shared the following campaign highlights:

  • Over 2,300 donors contributed to the campaign from $5 donations to $10,000 donations, which symbolizes the United Way of giving
  • 45 individuals gave $2,500 or more and took the Prudy Pick Hway Challenge
  • Over $73,000 was raised from various individuals and organizations in support of our COVID Relief Fund; funds distributed to 13 nonprofits that applied for relief
  • The top three giving organizations led the way (West Bend Mutual Insurance, Delta Defense and Broan) with increased corporate/employee giving and raised over $500,000 combined
  • Over 1,700 individuals qualified for a giveaway prize (year of dining, $1,000 gift card and new car); 597 were new donors and $227,976 raised in new or increased donations

United Way of Washington County invests in more than 20 prevention and intervention programs that improve Education, Financial Stability, and Health. Funds are allocated by panels of community volunteers. Program applications are evaluated based on alignment with United Way goals and focus areas, and strength of outcome results.

The 2021 United Way campaign begins this fall.
