Washington Co., Wi – United Way of Washington County is teaming up with Bob’s Main Street Auto & Towing for a community-wide food drive to help stock local food pantries and support neighbors facing food insecurity across Washington County, WI.
Through September 29, community members are invited to drop off non-perishable food items at any Bob’s Main Street Auto & Towing location in West Bend, Hartford, or Hubertus.
The month-long drive will culminate in a special “Fill the Truck” event on Monday, September 29, from 12 p.m. –5 p.m., where the Bob’s Auto United Way-themed tow truck will be parked at Moraine Park Technical College’s West Bend campus, Lot T1. Community members are encouraged to stop by and drop off donations directly at the truck during that window.
All donations collected throughout the drive will benefit food pantries throughout Washington County, helping ensure families across the county have access to the food they need.
“Food insecurity in Washington County doesn’t always look the way people expect,” said Kristin Brandner, CEO, United Way of Washington County. “It can be the senior on a fixed income deciding between groceries and medication, or the neighbor two streets over who you’d never guess is skipping meals. We don’t want anyone in our community to make that choice, and this drive is a great example of what’s possible when a local business and United Way come together for our neighbors.”

Most-needed items include cereal, canned vegetables, fruits and meats, soups, pasta and rice, peanut butter, jelly, sugar, flour, cooking oil and other shelf-stable staples. Personal care and household items also are appreciated. Donors are asked to check expiration dates before donating.
“We believe in taking care of the community that’s taken care of us for years,” said Rachel Rate, Head of Operations of Bob’s Main Street Auto & Towing. “Hunger is an issue right here in our own backyard, and we want to use our trucks and our team to help make a difference. We’re proud to partner with United Way of Washington County, and we’re hopeful our neighbors will join us in filling the truck on September 29.”
