United Way of Washington County celebrates record-breaking campaign

Washington Co., Wi – United Way of Washington County officials announced they raised $1,877,694 from the 2022 campaign.  This fundraising total once again tops the organization’s previous record, set in 2021 by over 4%.

“Thank you Washington County,” said campaign co-chair Randy Averill.  “We couldn’t have reached new heights without the generosity of so many individuals and companies.”

A team of Past Presidents and its CEO from the Kettle Moraine YMCA chaired the 2022 campaign – YMCA Legacy Team:

  • Randy Averill, Baird Retiree
  • Dr. Carey Cameron, West Bend Medical
  • Kirk Emerich, Westbury Bank
  • Rob Johnson, Kettle Moraine YMCA
  • Kevin Steiner, West Bend Mutual Insurance

“Chairing the campaign provided an opportunity to advocate about the growing lack of resources that individuals and families are facing here in Washington County.

It was uplifting to see the community unite to help their neighbors,” said Dr. Carey Cameron, campaign co-chair.

The pandemic impacted many individuals and organizations including the United Way. With losing over 1,000 donors in just a few years, the campaign leadership team had challenges to overcome.

“Our goal was to unite the community to build back our donor base and raise money to help more local residents in need,” said Kirk Emerich, campaign co-chair.

Highlights from the 2022 annual campaign includes:

  • Pacesetter campaigns collectively increased giving by 22% over prior year giving
  • Residential giving up 24%
  • Leadership giving (individuals giving $1,200 and more) totaled $406,000 and increased 34%
  • Overall number of donors increased by 621 donors and is up 28%

By exceeding the local United Way campaign goal, United Way is able to support over 25 local programs in the area of Education, Financial Stability and Health. Prior to the pandemic, challenges such as addiction, hunger, homelessness, and mental health were growing.

Since, these issues have increased even more.  United Way will continue to fund its mental health initiative, ensuring our youth have increased access to mental health counseling.

The incoming campaign chairs will be the Boys and Girls Club of Washington County.

United Way of Washington County invests in local programs that improve Education, Financial Stability, and Health. Funds are allocated by panels of community volunteers. Program applications are evaluated based on alignment with United Way goals and focus areas, and strength of outcome results.
