UPDATED OBIT: Eleanore “Elie” Trester, 94, West Bend

Dec. 13, 2016 – West Bend, WI – Eleanore “Elie” Trester (nee Earwaker), age 94, passed away peacefully at Betty’s Harbor of West Bend on Saturday, December 10, 2016.  She was born on September 2, 1922 in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada to Frank and Laura (nee Elbe) Earwaker.  She married the love of her life, Richard Harry Trester on May 7, 1947 in Milwaukee, WI.

Elie packed a lot of personality and life in her tiny frame.  She lived for adventure and love for her family.  She was an avid bridge player, member of the Eastern Star, an actress and tap dancer in Children’s Theatre, a Hospital Auxiliary volunteer for over 20 years and an usher for the Performing Arts Center. The West Bend Women’s Club was fortunate to have her present numerous travelogues from her trips around the world. Her adventures include riding mules on Molokai, elephants in Africa, camels in the Middle East and a dugout canoe down the Amazon.  Elie was a devoted advocate for Alzheimer’s patients at the Cedar Community where her mother resided for many years. In 1994 the Cedar Lake Yacht Club recognized Elie for her lifelong membership and extensive Public Service work for our community.

Elie loved to watch the Packers and host beautiful family Christmas dinners.  She was proud of her sons and treasured having daughters (-in-law) and grandchildren to lunch and go to the ballet with.  She encouraged her grandchildren to reach for their dreams and was devoted to supporting their ongoing education.  As Elie’s memory began to fade, her positive personality shined.  She knew she lived a wonderful life and always had a bright smile for her visitors, caregivers, family and friends.

Elie leaves behind her sons Robert E. Trester, Richard (Susan) Trester; 5 grandchildren Barbara (Tom) Cook, Catherine (Paul) Moldenhauer, Robert J. Trester, Robyn (Matt) Vaupel and Megan Trester; 8 great-grandchildren Thomas and James Cook, Nathan and Addison Vaupel, Fiona, Nigel and Silas Trester and Cora Moldenhauer.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Eleanore is preceded in death by her husband Richard, her great grandson Joseph R. Cook, her parents and her daughter-in-law Margaret R. Trester.

A private service will be held for Elie.  Memorials are appreciated to the Alzheimer’s Association-National Office, 225 N. Michigan Ave., FL 17, Chicago, IL 60601, and/or the American Cancer Society Wisconsin Region (P.O. Box 902 Pewaukee, WI 53072-0902).
