Kruit spent four years in the United States Army as a medical laboratory specialist. Her home base was in Neenah and Milwaukee. She trained at Fort Sam Houston, TX, and Fort Carson, CO.
Kruit is married to her husband, Nathanael, who is a US Marine veteran.
