UW-WC out hustles UW-Manitowoc | By Stephen Murphy

Jan. 24, 2018 – Washington Co., WI – The UW-Washington County men’s basketball squad had outstanding hustle and teamwork and earned a big victory at home Wednesday night over UW-Manitowoc.

The Wildcats played well at both ends of the floor racing out to a 54-32 advantage at halftime and finishing with a 106-64 victory in a game where all 12 players scored points for the Wildcats.

J Braxton Thomas connected on 7 of 9 three pointers for 21 points, but played only 16 minutes due to the large margin in the score.

AJ Barnes, Jr. recorded another double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.  Ahmad Pender, Jr. made all of his shots from the floor and finished with 10 points, including a pair of dunks to go along with 6 steals and 2 blocked shots.

Koy Walsh scored 12 and added 6 boards.  Adrian Huerta dished out 8 assists and had 5 steals to go along with 8 points.  David Wiley, Jr. scored 11 and blocked 2 shots.

Derrick Chaney flew to the rim scoring 10 points on quick burst drives from both the right and left sides.

Trent Walstra had 7 points and 3 assists.  Tariq Frett also tossed in 7 points.  Mitchell Behm hit 2 more free throws and continues to lead the conference with 100% shooting from the line.

Ross Riegleman hit a nice baseline jumper and made several quality passes.  Sam Krause hit a long range 3 ball that put the Wildcats over 100 on the night.

The last time these two teams met in November, the Wildcats narrowly won 69-65.

The UW-WC men’s team returns to action Friday night, Jan. 26 as UW-Rock is scheduled to travel to West Bend for a 7 p.m. game that was rescheduled after UW-Rock did not send their team two weeks ago on January 10 during the process of a coaching change.

At this point there is a 50% chance that the game might not actually be played due to lack of available officials Friday night.  Watch for a confirmation update Thursday afternoon.
