UWM at Washington Co. volleyball preps for tonight’s Eastern Division Championship | By Catherine Tucker

Oct. 5, 2018 – Washington Co., WI – The UW-Milwaukee at Washington County Lady Wildcats volleyball team won its fourth Wisconsin Collegiate Conference Eastern Division match defeating UW-Oshkosh at Fox Valley 25-4, 25-15, 25-6.

The match was challenging in that it gave our team a chance to practice skills we had been working on all week.

One challenge our coaches gave us was to perfect our spot serving; specifically serving to the front half of the court.

The girls played aggressively the first game, lost a little focus the second game and came back swinging to win the third game.

The win gave us insight into what we can improve in our game and what we can work on going into Friday’s match against UW-Green Bay at Marinette County.

Coach Debbie Butschlick said, “We needed to work on keeping the intensity up when the opponent does not run a quick offense.”

Kayla Boehm led the team with 5 kills, Paige Airaudi and Breanna Cronin each contributed 4 kills.  Kayla Schommer had 7 ace serves and 10 assists for kills, while Caryn Hamm had 8 assists for kills.  Catherine Tucker had 8 ace serves and 9 digs, Audra Brandenburg had 7 ace serves.

Friday’s match will determine the Eastern Division Champion.
