This is also the first season the WI league is divided into two conferences- North and South- due to the increase of participating athletes. The South Conference raced Saturday and the North Conference on Sunday.

The race morning started off cool with overcast skies and a light mist. By the time races started, the conditions cleared becoming very favorable for the morning riders. The humidity crept back in and the sun came out, making for a very warm ride for the afternoon riders.

It didn’t matter what time of day it was, there were many flat tires on the different courses that added just another challenge for some of the athletes. The trails consisted of gravel double tracks, single tracks, bridges, berms and many rock gardens throughout the different courses. There was a mix of technical features, flowy downhills and challenging climbs.

There were 575 athletes registered to race on Saturday Sept 5.  Of those registered athletes, Washington Co. Trail Sharks had 27 student athletes participate, with two athletes, Kennedy Whyte and Gracelyn Beimborn taking the podium.  Washington County Composite took 3rd place overall in Division 2.

The Trail Sharks have their next festival weekend on Sept 19-20, 2026, with the race on Sunday at Minooka Park in Waukesha.
