July 8, 2017 – West Bend, WI – During the week of June 12—18, the U.S. Open Championship took place in Washington County with a daily attendance of 35,000+. During this time, our fire department provided support for this event. Sheriff Dale Schmidt penned a letter to the West Bend Fire Department regarding the excellent service they provided.
Schmidt stated, “An important part of the operational public safety plan was the implementation of medical and fire suppression responses. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office needed to rely on our fellow fire and EMS professionals to accomplish that.”
Schmidt complimented the Fire Department on their “high level of paramedic and EMS support to spectators at the event.”
“We are extremely fortunate to have such devoted and professional EMS/Paramedic and fire service in our county.”
