West Bend West falls to Slinger in first round WIAA Regionals | By Deb Butschlick

October 22, 2020 – West Bend, WI – The West Bend West Lady Spartans lost in the first round of the WIAA Regionals to Slinger 21 – 25, 15-25, 17 – 25.

The Slinger Owls played a really tough match and the Lady Spartans had trouble creating an offense.

“Service receive was our main downfall, as we have struggled with this all season,” said coach Deb Butschlick. “When the Spartans played great defense, we were able to run our quick offense and we scored every time.”

Leading the team were Makenna Kappler with 4 kills, Molly Spaeth had 7 assists, Jada Slagle with 12 digs and Ellie Meurer had 3 blocks.
The Lady Spartans will play their final Conference match at a later day.
No. 4 seed Slinger advances to play No. 3 seed Port Washington at Port Washington on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.
In other scores: Hartford fell to Arrowhead 25 – 23, 25 – 15, 25 – 16
Kettle Moraine Lutheran edged Kewaskum  25 – 14, 25-27, 25-17
Top seed KML advances in the WIAA D2 sectional to face No. 2 seed Lake Country Lutheran. The teams play at KML on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.
