Winter Storm Warning in effect for Washington/Ozaukee Counties, could be biggest storm of season

Washington County, WI – A winter storm warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in effect from tonight at 6 p.m., until Sunday at 6 p.m for Washington and Ozaukee counties. The NWS is calling for 4″ to 8″ of snow by the time all is done in what appears to be the biggest snowstorm of the season.

According to the NWS, accumulating wet and heavy snow is expected to spread across southern and central Wisconsin into this evening, and linger through Sunday. Southeast to east winds could gust as high as 35 mph and cause some areas of blowing and drifting snow. Travel conditions will quickly deteriorate as the snow starts, and will be hazardous into Sunday.

The highest snowfall totals are expected along the Illinois border and areas near Lake Michigan where a Winter Storm Warning is in effect tonight through Sunday.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for outlying Dodge and Fond du lac counties. Plan on slippery road conditions and occasionally reduced visibilities.
