Madison, Wi – Wisconsin Family Action (WFA) strongly opposes a series of legislative proposals currently circulating in the Capitol that represent a sweeping assault on Wisconsin’s constitutional values, parental rights, free speech, and the very foundations of family and biological reality.
Here are just a few of the out-of-touch proposals in the package:
1. Requires taxpayer-funded trainings to promote transgender ideology in our public schools.
2. Eliminates every reference to “mother”, “father”, “husband”, and “wife” in state law.
3. Restricts free speech of mental health professionals by legally requiring them to affirm minor clients’ self-diagnosed gender identity issues.
WFA President Daniel Degner said, “These proposals are a full-scale attempt to rewrite our state’s laws, constitution, and culture in the image of radical gender and sexual ideology. The government has no business pushing a sexualized ideology, especially one that redefines human identity, marriage, and family. We will not stay silent as the rights of parents, children, and faith-based citizens are systematically assaulted.”
These proposals are an attempt towards social engineering that is deceptive, confusing, and anti-scientific. Regardless of what some legislators want to force on the state, there are only two genders, male and female. Science is clear men cannot give birth, nor can they breastfeed. Together, these proposals present a broader agenda—one that seeks to deconstruct traditional family values and replace truth with ideology.
Wisconsin’s greatest natural resource is our families. Strong families result in a strong Wisconsin. Instead of seeking to promote a healthy family structure throughout Wisconsin, this package actively opposes strong families.
Reflecting on June being the month in which we celebrate Father’s Day, Degner said, “If the legislature seeks to promote human flourishing, they should advance policies this June that promote fathers and the family instead of erasing them.”
Degner concluded, “Wisconsin Family Action urges lawmakers to resist the pressure to conform to radical agendas and instead recommit to public policy that strengthens, not sabotages, the natural family. That means honoring the unique and complementary roles of mothers and fathers, defending the institution of marriage, and protecting children from ideological indoctrination.”
