51-year-old Mayville man in very serious condition following 2-car accident

Sept. 14, 2017 – Dodge Co., WI – Updated information: The eastbound passenger car was driven by John Rockefeller, 51, City of Mayville.   Rockefeller’s car was eastbound on CTH TW, when it entered the intersection.  Rockefeller’s medical condition was still very serious as of Sept. 14, 2017.

The pickup was being driven southbound on CTH AY at the time of the collision.  That truck was operated by 58-year-old Barry Sterr or rural Theresa.  Sterr was treated and released from a local hospital with minor injuries following the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

At about 5:10 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office 911 took reports of a serious, two-vehicle traffic crash at the intersection of CTH (County Highway) TW and CTH AY in the Township of Theresa in Dodge County.

The initial investigation shows an eastbound passenger car entered the intersection and collided with a southbound pickup truck.  Traffic going east and west at the intersection is controlled by a stop sign.  North and southbound traffic is not controlled.  The driver of the eastbound car was transported by Flight For Life to Aurora Summit Hospital with suspected life-threatening injuries.  The driver of the southbound pickup was transported by ambulance to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office Chaplain, with the assistance of other law enforcement agencies, is still attempting to notify relatives of the patient in serious condition; therefore no names are being released for at least 24 hours following this press release.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the crash by the Village of Brownsville Marshall, Mayville EMS, Theresa EMS and Fire Department, Flight For Life, DCERT, Kekoskee First Responders, and the Sheriff’s Office Chaplain.  The crash is under investigation by the Crash Investigation Team (CIT).
