Allenton, WI – The Allenton American Legion and Allenton Volunteer Fire Department are working on final plans for the 2021 Allenton Annual Picnic which will be held on August 20 and 21.

This year’s event will be a 1-1/2 day format. Friday, August 20, will start out with a Fish Fry provided by Jug’s Hitching Post at the Veterans Park on First Street in Allenton. This will be a drive-thru or eat-in-the-park event. Those who choose to eat dinner in the park will be entertained by Ebert’s Music Machine and have a choice of some great refreshments.

Saturday, August 21, starts off with a 5K Run/Walk at 10 a.m. at Veterans Park which will travel through the streets of Allenton and then return to the park. Registration for the 5K will start at 9:00 a.m. at a cost of $20.00 per person.  Any questions can be directed to [email protected]

The run will be followed by a Bags Tournament. Teams can register at the park prior to the 11:00 a.m. toss-off for $20.00 per team with a 50% payback. The tournament is a double-elimination tournament with the participants furnishing their own bags or using furnished bags.

Allenton Annual Picnic’s huge parade will step off at 4 p.m. starting at the Allenton Fire Department. There will be a Concert in the Park with the bands from the parade, including the Slinger High School Marching Band. The concert will be followed by musical entertainment provided by Hodgson/Suvaka Duo. The picnic menu will include brats, hamburgers, pulled chicken, and subs plus ice cream treats.

“We believe we have one of most entertaining parades in southeastern Wisconsin,” said Ron Naab, chair of the Allenton Parade committee. Naab said, “We invite floats to be a part of the parade as we award 8 places decided by judges from outside of our area for a total of $900.00.

“This year’s parade is dedicated to those 3,000 victims of September 11, 2001, as we observe the 20th anniversary of this historical day.”

This is the largest fundraiser of the year for both the American Legion and the Volunteer Fire Department. Raffle tickets are available for purchase from any Allenton American Legion or Fire Department member prior to or at the picni
