Obituary | Barbara Ruth Brussat, 74, of West Bend

March 27, 2021 – West Bend, Wi – Barbara Ruth Brussat went home to her Savior Jesus Christ on March 25, just eight days after her 74th birthday. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Margaret Brussat, her sister Audrey Fisher, and brother-in-law Dennis Fisher. She is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Gary and Valery Brussat of West Bend and Tom and Patti Brussat of Cumming, GA, as well as 6 nieces and two nephews.

Barb had a special heart for little children, and spent long hours knitting booties and blankets for newborns. She loved holidays, especially Christmas and Easter. She was a life-long Lutheran, having graduated from Mount Calvary Lutheran Elementary School in Milwaukee in 1962.

She graduated from Milwaukee Washington High School in 1966 and afterwards worked several years for Western Electric Company in Milwaukee. She moved from Milwaukee to West Bend in 2002.

She will be missed at Cedar Community in West Bend, where she was a resident for her last seven years. The family extends sincere thanks to the caring staff at Cedar, especially Sue Schickert and Darcie Heberer who showed Barbara love and compassion in her most difficult years.

Barbara’s life was punctuated by challenges, from re-learning speech as a young child to being in a wheelchair the last seven years of her life. Through persevering effort, she emerged from childhood to a better life than her parents imagined. Now, through a persevering faith in Christ, she has emerged to an eternal life better than any of us can imagine.

Visitation and Funeral Service Wednesday, March 31 at Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 W. Capital Drive, Brookfield, in the Chapel of Flowers. Visitation will be 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m., with burial immediately following.
