Town of Barton / Mt. Calvary – In what feels a bit like turning the key on a long-awaited front door, Dawn and Jeremy Braund of Braund’s Flooring & Remodeling have officially opened not one, but two new locations, planting roots in both the Town of Barton and Mt. Calvary.
For Dawn, the move wasn’t sudden. It was more like a slow, steady pull toward something better.
“We wanted to get the showroom all in one,” she said. “Where we were before worked, but we weren’t in a very high-visibility area. We wanted to be in a better location and have kind of the showroom all in one.”

Their previous space, where they spent a little over three years getting established, had its limitations. Products were split between rooms, creating a patchwork experience for customers.
“We had one room with vinyl plank, laminate, wood, and then we had carpet and ceramic tile in the other room,” said Dawn. “We wanted to be more in a wide-open area where we could handle anybody that walked in the door instead of having it broken up and kind of cobbled together.”
Now, in the Town of Barton on Friendly Drive, just west of Highway 45, that vision has come to life.

With just under 1,500 square feet, the new showroom offers a streamlined, welcoming space where customers can explore everything in one place. Its location also checks a major box the couple had been chasing.
“High visibility. I mean, we’re right off of the freeway,” Dawn said. “I think it’ll just work out well for us… it cuts off a little bit of drive time from our home, too. I just think it’ll work out well for us because of the location.”
As customers walk through the doors, many already know what they’re looking for, but the Braunds have built their business on making sure they leave with more than just flooring.
“I like hearing all the testimonials when people come in,” Dawn said, reflecting on the steady stream of feedback that has helped shape their growth.
That growth didn’t stop in Barton.

Nearly a year-and-a-half ago, a chance conversation set the stage for their second location in Mt. Calvary. Jeremy struck up a conversation while picking up materials, learning that a longtime local business owner was planning to retire.
“Jeremy just happened to run into Terry… and she said they were going to be looking at selling their building,” Dawn said. “We had been looking at purchasing our own building, so we stayed in contact… and it just worked out.”
The Mt. Calvary property comes with a rich backstory, echoing decades of community life.

“Originally it was a barn, then it became a plumbing company, and then it became a flooring store,” Dawn said.
Even more, the neighboring building carries its own lore.
“The bowling alley behind it originally was a movie theater, and then it turned into a bowling alley slash dry bar… I want to say it was called the Twilight Zone,” she said. “I’ve heard many stories of people meeting their wives there.”
Today, those same buildings are stepping into a new chapter, with the Braunds preserving their purpose while adapting them for modern use. The Mt. Calvary site will also serve as expanded storage, helping support the company’s increasing demand.
“It does add extra storage for us,” Dawn said. “We’ll be moving our storage from West Bend up there and have all our shipments go up to that location.”
That kind of strategic growth reflects a business that’s not just expanding, but evolving.

“We currently have six individuals that work for us,” Dawn said, noting their team of subcontractors who adapt to projects of all sizes. “Sometimes they pair up, sometimes they’re on their own. It just depends on the job.”
And those jobs go well beyond flooring.
“We don’t just do flooring,” she said. “If someone needs baseboards, we do the baseboards, epoxy flooring, tile work, and minor remodeling projects. Jeremy likes to be a jack-of-all-trades.”
That versatility has become a defining trait, especially in areas where certain services are hard to find.
“One thing we still do that not a lot of places do is sheet vinyl,” Dawn said. “We actually sell it and have installers for it. And tile… there’s not a lot of tile installers around the area, and that’s one thing we do excel in.”
From West Bend to Beaver Dam, Cedarburg to Campbellsport, their customer base continues to stretch across the region. Meanwhile, the Mt. Calvary location is steadily introducing them to new communities like Malone, St. Cloud, and Van Dyne.
“We’re just growing and learning about the different areas,” Dawn said.
Even with that growth, the Braunds remain grounded in the rhythm of a locally owned business, where flexibility and customer care drive the schedule.
“Sometimes we’re able to get products in sooner, and if a crew finishes early, we’ll call a customer and move things up,” Dawn said. “It’s always nice to get projects completed faster than the customer anticipated.”
Looking ahead, the couple isn’t ruling out putting down even deeper roots.
“We have a two-year lease here in Barton, but eventually we would like to purchase our own building… possibly in this area if the right location opens up,” she said.
For now, though, the doors are open at Braund’s Flooring & Remodeling, the floors are set, and the Braunds are exactly where they’ve been working to be—visible, accessible, and growing.
