Clutch victory for UWM at Washington Co. vs. UWO at Fox Valley | By Randy Howard

Feb. 7, 2019 – Washington Co., WI – UWM at Washington County hosted UWO at Fox Valley in a tightly contested battle Wednesday night.

Throughout the first half, UWM at Washington County was fighting from behind as they couldn’t find their rhythm on the defensive end.  In the last minute of the half, the Wildcats put together an 8-0 run to take a one-point advantage heading into halftime.

Starting the second half, the Wildcats got off to a rocky start.  After trailing by as many as 14, the largest deficit of the game, the Wildcats shifted to another gear and closed the margin to six points with five minutes remaining.

In the closing minutes the Wildcats and Cyclones were trading baskets in a nail biter.  After a clutch basket made by Daniel Britton and assisted by his brother David Britton, the Wildcats were on took the lead.

UWO at Fox Valley was forced to foul with 44 seconds remaining in the game, and the Wildcats sealed the win by making free throws at the end.

The Wildcats won the contest 96-95.

Michael Wallace lead the charge with a massive 26 points, 20 rebounds performance.  He also tallied four assists and four steals.  David Britton added 22 points, and Ross Waddell had his best scoring output in the last couple games with 19 points.  Ross Riegleman finished with a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds.

The Wildcats look to carry their momentum into Saturday when they travel to UWGB at Marinette.
