April 3, 2026 – West Bend, Wi – An excavator was moved in this week and now looms in the parking lot outside Omicron Family Restaurant on S. Main Street in West Bend, Wi. The landscape again set to change as another mom-and-pop business is razed. Neighbors are starting to weigh the impact as news broke Wednesday about the potential loss of another family restaurant as Jumbo’s Frozen Custard, owned by Jeff Kern, heads to the plan commission April 9, 2026.

Omicron Family Restaurant, 1505 S. Main Street, had been part of the fabric of the community for 33 years. Owned by brothers Bill and John Tsiampas, the place was a regular hangout for those looking for a hot cup of coffee, a warm smile, and maybe a bowl of their famous chicken noodle soup.
The loss of the family-owned restaurant was palpable. Frequent visitors shared heartfelt comments.

I was on their 3rd shift when they first opened. 4 of my nieces worked for him. Your community and friends will surely feel a loss.

The building is going to be razed, along with VisionWorks next door to make way for a new Culver’s. It will be the second location for Culver’s in West Bend, Wi, and the third ice cream outlet within a four-block stretch on S. Main Street.

VisionWorks has relocated across the road, in the endcap of the building formerly home to Panera.
