Dec. 14, 2016 – West Bend, WI – It’s called pre-treating and it happened over the weekend in West Bend as the Public Works crews awaited the heavy snowfall.
The new strategy is to apply a Geomelt product, which is a mixture of Beet Juice and Sodium Chloride to help reduce the snow and ice from bonding to the pavement in the colder temperatures.
Director of Public Works Doug Neumann said “this is a less corrosive product than a straight Sodium Chloride mixture and works better at lower temperatures.”
