Family survives car fire on I41 in Germantown

 

 

May 29, 2018 – Germantown, WI – A family from Ashland is lucky to be alive after their vehicle caught fire and exploded on I41 in Germantown on Sunday, May 27.

According to WISN 12 News the family was returning home from Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee with their 5-year-old son when the vehicle caught fire.

The story is exclusive to WISN 12 News :

“The first thing I did was go grab Jaxon and Tony grabbed his wheelchair,” Lindsey Oliphant told WISN 12 NEWS on Sunday. “(My 15-year-old son) Tony had to grab the three oxygen tanks before it exploded. We couldn’t grab anything else. By that time the flames were up in the air.”

Jaxson spent the last 11 months in the hospital with a chronic kidney disease and issues with his lungs. He’s also received two liver transplants, had a stroke and now lives with seizures. Medicine, pumps, and other medical equipment that Jaxson needs burned in the fire.

“I just feel like I can’t get a break,” Oliphant said. “At least the kids are okay.”

 

According to WISN 12 the “family vehicle was a GMC Jimmy.”

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
