Nov. 22, 2017 – Kewaskum, WI – It’s with a heavy heart to report the death of Grace Mueller, 73.
Grace Mueller was well loved in the community and dedicated to students and their education.
“She was on the Kewaskum Buildings and Grounds Committee with me and always dedicated to the students,” said Doug Gonring from West Bend Elevator. “She cared about the well-being of education for children and students of the future.”
Those who knew Grace Mueller also were well aware of her dislike of Common Core. “She was very polite and taught me a lot about education,” Gonring said.
Mueller was elected to the Kewaskum School Board in spring 2012 with a strong platform on improving communication and accountability to taxpayers.
She actually resigned from the Kewaskum School Board in June 2014. She made it very well known she disagreed with the federal standards and she stepped down from the board saying she did not feel she could represent the people who had voted for her.
Jeanne Goeden served on the Kewaskum School Board and also knew Grace. “She was a great lady and dedicated to education and the School Board,” said Goeden. “I enjoyed talking to her and being with her; she was a good person.”
Kewaskum School Board member Tim Ramthun said he was devastated when he heard the news of Grace passing. “Just a great, great lady,” said Ramthun. “A good friend.”
Several years ago Grace Mueller moved from her home in Kewaskum to the Enger Kress Apartments in West Bend. Close friends say she “will be missed.”
The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum is working with the family. Details on Grace Mueller’s funeral will be posted shortly.
