I just wanted to let everyone know that the Highway 83 reconstruction project will begin on Monday, April 4.
Highway 83, which includes all of Branch Street and portions of Grand Ave. and S. Main St., will be completely reconstructed this year. The project is being done in phases.
The first phase starts at Hwy. 60 (Sumner Street) and continues south to a point about 300 feet north of Jefferson Ave. Within this first phase, work on the northern most block of the roadway (in the downtown area) will not begin until July 5.
This is being done so the road work does not interfere with the parade route.
The contractor will set up the detour route and signs first thing Monday morning. By 6 a.m. the roadway will be closed to through traffic. The contractor will begin working at the intersection of Grand Ave. and E. Lincoln Ave. Monday morning. Access to businesses and residences along the roadway will be maintained for emergency vehicles and local traffic.
