June 7, 2021 – Fond du Lac Co., WI – A high-speed chase out of Fond du Lac County on Sunday afternoon ended in Washington County with multiple law enforcement agencies assisting in apprehending the man who allegedly stole a vehicle in Illinois.

On Sunday, June 6, 2021, at 4:15 p.m., the Fond du Lac Communications Center was alerted by two separate citizens regarding a reckless driver traveling south on I-41 near Highway 151 in Fond du Lac County. They reported that the vehicle was swerving all over the road and had what appeared to be fresh damage to the front end.
A Fond du Lac County Deputy located the vehicle traveling south on I-41 south of Highway 151 and attempted a traffic stop. The driver failed to yield to the deputy’s lights and siren and a pursuit occurred at highway speed. The driver continued to swerve and failed to maintain his lane. The pursuit continued south on I-41 while additional deputies responded.
Deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office were able to assist and deployed tire deflation devices at CTH D in their county that were successful. The suspect continued to travel south on I-41 at highway speeds and Washington County deputies took over the pursuit at that time.
The suspect driver exited I-41 at Hwy 60 in Washington County, causing side damage to another vehicle before traveling through the intersection and off the roadway where his vehicle was disabled. The suspect was taken into custody shortly after. There was property damage due to this incident. There were no injuries reported during the pursuit.
Through further investigation, Fond du Lac deputies determined the suspect had stolen the vehicle earlier in the day from a dealership in Illinois. He was also involved in a separate pursuit with Marinette County at approximately 2 p.m. that resulted in damage to the stolen vehicle as well as another motorist and no injuries occurred during that incident.
The pursuit from Fond du Lac traveled 27 miles. Law enforcement members from Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, Hartford PD, and Slinger PD assisted during the pursuit.
The suspect is a 47-year-old male from Berwyn, Illinois. He is facing charges of felony eluding, operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, and numerous traffic citations in Fond du Lac County. He will face additional criminal charges in Marinette and Washington County.
The incident remains under investigation at this time.
