Man arrested following chase by Pike Lake State Park

 Washington County Sheriff

Nov. 2, 2016 – Hartford, WI –  On Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 4:28 p.m. the Washington County Sheriff received a request for assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms (ATF) involving pursuit of a suspect vehicle northbound on Highway 83 entering south of the county line.

Early reports were the driver of the vehicle was allegedly involved in a bank robbery in the city of Milwaukee. A deputy attempted to deploy a controlled tire deflation device in the area of Hwy 83 and County Line Road however the suspect vehicle drove into the ditch and around the device.

The Sheriff terminated the pursuit after a second unsuccessful tire deflation attempt was done at Hwy 83 and Lee Road by Hartford Police because the suspect vehicle was entering a highly populated area.

Another deputy positioned himself at the DNR Pike Lake Office on Kettle Moraine south of Highway 60 and observed the suspect vehicle eastbound on Hwy 60.

The suspect then pulled into the gas station on the corner of Hwy 60 and Kettle Moraine Drive in the City of Hartford.

The deputy saw the suspect exit the vehicle and enter the gas station. The deputy approached the vehicle and set up a perimeter.

During that process, the subject fled the gas station on foot and ran south across Hwy 60. He was taken into custody after about a 100-yard foot chase. The 41-year-old Milwaukee County man was turned over to ATF.
