Obit: Doris R. Friend, 77, Random Lake

Doris R. Friend, of Random Lake, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls. She was 77 years old. Doris was born January 26, 1939 in Random Lake, the daughter of William and Clara (nee Becker) Jacoby. On May 21, 1960, she was united in marriage with James Friend at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Random Lake. He preceded her in death in 2015.

Doris was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish. She was an avid baseball fan, and didn’t miss a Brewers game. She loved Elvis, and saw him 3 times in Las Vegas and 3 times in Milwaukee. She liked to go on gambling trips, and loved to bake, garden, listen to books on tape and spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by four children: James Friend, John (Bonnie) Friend, Joseph Friend and Jane (special friend Max Werner) Grover all of Random Lake, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, brothers Donald (Lois) Jacoby of Thiensville and James (Mary) Jacoby of Fredonia, sister Mary (the late Tom) Morgan of Random Lake, sisters-in-law Geri (the late Rollie) Jacoby of Fredonia and Nancy (Gary) Kraus of Woodruff, brother-in-law Roland (Sandra) Friend of Random Lake, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband James, son-in-law Randy Grover and sister Carol (Bud) Schuessler.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday, September 10th at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish – St. Mary’s Chapel, 230 Butler St., Random Lake. Father Richard Cerpich will preside. She will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery, Random Lake. Visitation will take place at the church on Saturday morning from 9:30-11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested.
