Obit: Dorothy S. Berend, nee Schwinn, 92

March 28, 2018 – Town of Farmington, WI – Dorothy S. Berend, nee Schwinn, died on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa at the age of 92 years.  She was born on October 14, 1925 in the Town of Farmington to the late Bernard and Gertrude (nee Stockhausen) Schwinn.

On October 14, 1950, she was united in marriage to Richard J. Berend at Holy Angels Catholic Church.  Richard predeceased December 24, 1998.

From a young age, she enjoyed being outside.  She helped on the family farm, enjoyed gardening, hiking and spending time at the family cottage on Crystal Lake.

For a brief time, she worked at Amity Leather Products.  In addition to being a stay at home mom, she worked for the family construction business, Berend and Berend Construction.  After her children were older, she was a housekeeper for many area families.

Over the years, she loved spending time with her family.  Her grandchildren brought her much joy.  Together they would visit area parks, draw pictures, play games and went on many adventures.  She also loved the Green Bay Packers, sharing her passion with family and friends alike.

Survivors include 2 children Mike (Sherry) Berend of West Bend and Sue (Dave) Lorenz; 2 grandchildren Kayci Lorenz (John Nichols) and Blake Lorenz; 1 sister Armella Schwinn of West Bend; special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 sister Hilaria (Robert) Schnorenberg and 3 brothers  Jerome, Leroy and Robert.

 

 

 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 3 at 6 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend with Deacon Mark Jansen officiating.  Burial will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Peter’s Cemetery in the Town of Farmington.  The family will greet relatives and friends during a period of visitation on Tuesday from 4 until 5:45 p.m.

The family has requested memorials to the Holy Angels School Trust Fund.
