Obit: Florence Gitter, 93, Fond du Lac

Florence Gitter, 93, of Fond du Lac passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016 at St. Francis Home. She was born Aug. 12, 1923 in Leroy, WI, the daughter of the late Kilian and Cecilia (Gindt) Wondra. On June 23, 1945, Florence married Wilbert F. Gitter at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Leroy. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church (Holy Family Parish) and the Altar & Rosary Society. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, reading, bowling, playing cards and taking walks with Wilbert. Most of all Florence enjoyed the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children Jerry (Betty) of Fond du Lac, Jim (Patty) of Longmont, CO, Tom (Jane) of Green Bay, Dave (Claudia “Muff”) of Mt. Calvary, Mary (Fran) Russart of Green Bay, Andy (Sandy) of Oconomowoc, Rick (Melissa) of Jamison, PA, Mike (Bonnie) of Franklin, Steve (Amy) of Omro and Bob (Joyce) of Stevens Point, her grandchildren Todd (Leila), Dean (Lisa), Jennifer Odau, Jan Nelson, Julie (Dave) Cornette, Jeff (Maria), Kevin (Betsey), Pam (Jeremie) Birch, Beth Russart, Bryan Russart, Tony (Becky), Daniel, Calvin, Chandler, Evan, Catherine and Aaron, her great-grandchildren, Paige, Austin, Alyssa, Shannon, Hailey, Trent, Madeline, Emily, Hannah, Breanna, Karissa, Tessa, Jack, William, Isabella, Sophia and Isabelle, her siblings Cecilia (Joe) Belligan of West Bend, Helen Thimm of Hartford and Albert (Pat) Wondra of Mayville, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbert on June 1, 2012, a grandson Christopher, a great-grandson Patrick, siblings Angeline, Edward, Raymond, Leo, Paul and Genevieve and many other beloved family members.

Private family services with a Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 29th at 2:00 PM at the St. Francis Home Chapel, 33 Everett St. Fond du Lac with Father Adrian officiating. Memorials appreciated to St. Francis Home or Agnesian Hospice.
