Obit: Janet L. Checolinski, 80, Hartford

Janet L. Checolinski (nee Schuster), age 80 of Hartford passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016 at the Aurora Medical Center in Hartford.

She was born on September 10, 1935 in Theresa to Willard and Mathilda (nee Koenig) Schuster. She was united in marriage to Robert Checolinski on November 2, 1957 at St. Kilian’s Catholic Church Parsonage in Hartford, WI.

Janet worked at Broan-Nutone in Hartford for 30 years. She enjoyed camping, crafts, and spending time with family. She was a proud member of the Optimist club. Janet’s passion was serving her community, as she volunteered for Operation Christmas Child (shoe box) and Support the Troops where she made recycled cards for the children and troops, she also volunteered at the Schauer Performing Arts Center, and the Hartford Hospital.

Janet is survived by her loving children, Keith (Debra), Karen (Clyde) Braunschweig, James (Barbara) Kathleen (Gregory) Klink, Patricia Backhaus, John (Denise) and Brian; 22 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, sister’s in-law Edna, Marian, Barbara, and Emily Schuster. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert in 1995, brothers, Rueben, Carl, Howard, Alan, Kenneth, and Glen.

Funeral services for Janet will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home (824 Union St. Hartford, WI 53027) with Pastor Jeff Schimp officiating.  Family will greet relatives and friends at Shimon Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.

Interment in St. Kilian Cemetery Hartford, Wisconsin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Glacier Hills Church, Operation Shoe Box, and Support the Troops are appreciated.
