Obit: Steven M. Smith, 64, Grafton

Steven M. Smith, age 64, of Highway W., Town of Grafton, WI passed away at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton on Monday, June 27, 2016.

He was born August 16, 1951; son of Dale E. and Esther Finch Smith in Port Washington, WI. On March 21, 1970, Steve married Shelia Burnett of Grafton. For a few years they lived in Port Washington, later moving to Grafton.

For over 30 years, Steve drove forklift for Tecumseh Mfg. Company in Grafton. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists Local 1326.

Steve was an active volunteer at the Saukville Gun Club. Even with his disabilities, he was very independent, on the move and leading the way.

He is survived by his wife Shelia, son Terry (Robyn Schulz) Smith of the Town of Grafton; grandson Austin (Pamela) Eernisse of Port Washington; great-grandchildren Dalton and Zoey Eernisse; brothers Morris “Butch” (Elaine) Smith of Belgium, Gary Smith of Port Washington and Bruce (Sandee) Smith of Springhill, FL and his sister Sue Smith of Port Washington; further survived by sister-in-law Donna Vanderpoel of Cedarburg and brother-in-law John (Cher) Burnett of Cedar Grove; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, infant son Trevor, his sister Ramona Roark and sister-in-law Patricia Burnett.

A Celebration of Steve’s life will take place 4-6 PM Friday, July 8, 2016 at the Poole Funeral Home/Crematory, 203 N. Wisconsin Street, Port Washington, WI with a luncheon at 6 PM. Memorials to the American Heart Association, 660 E Mason St. #200, Milwaukee, WI 53202 appreciated.
