Therese DuCharme, (nee Urban), 90, of West Bend, found peace on Monday, June 13, 2016 at the Samaritan Health Center, West Bend.

She was born on July 9, 1925 to the late Louis and Mary Catherine (nee Falada) Urban in Lime Springs IA. On July 16, 1946 she was united in marriage to Roger J. DuCharme in Lourdes, IA. Together they made their home in Iowa until moving to West Bend in 1956.

Therese received a teaching certificate and taught all grade levels in a one-room schoolhouse in Mapleleaf, IA early in her life. She also worked at a meat packing plant in Iowa. After marrying Roger, they worked the family dairy farm.

After she and Roger moved to West Bend she was hired at Schultz Bros. Dime Store as a bookkeeper. During the years of 1947 through 1962 she gave birth to eight (8) healthy children. Therese enjoyed gardening (especially her roses and other flowers), clipping coupons and at the height of the Cabbage Patch craze, she was quite successful at making and selling these dolls for family and friends. Therese was skilled at making awesome homemade bread and a variety of delicious jams and jellies and cookies that were enjoyed by family and friends.

Sister, Leona Urban; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Roger J. DuCharme, and 11 brothers and sisters and special friend of the family Bonnie Opsal.

The family extends its appreciation to the staff of Samaritan Health Center, especially the 4th floor staff, for all of their care and kindness to Mom during the past three years.  The family also thanks Horizon Hospice for their comfort and care during the end of Mom’s life.

A Memorial Mass in remembrance of Therese will be held on Monday, June 27 at 12 Noon at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church, 1610 Monroe St., West Bend. Burial of the cremated remains will be at Calvary Cemetery in Manitowoc at a later date.

Therese’s family will be greeting family and friends at the church from 10 am until the time of Mass.

The Myrhum Patten Miller & Kietzer Funeral Homes have been entrusted with Therese’s arrangements.
