June 28, 2019 – West Bend, WI –Catherine G. Grosz (nee Bigge), passed away Wednesday June 26, 2019 at the age of 93. She was born on June 4, 1926 in Armour, South Dakota to Joseph and Gertrude (nee Mengenhausen) Bigge. On October 19, 1950, Catherine married Norman W. Grosz at St Georges Catholic Church in Armour, SD and they began their family. The couple moved to West Bend in June 1966. She retired in 1988 from Enger- Kress Company in West Bend and moved back to South Dakota in August 1992. She returned to Wisconsin in 2013.
Catherine was a member of St Paul The Apostle Catholic Church and was also a member of the Alter Society, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, a volunteer at Golden Living Nursing Home all in Armour South Dakota. She loved to sew, quilt, play cards, bake and watch her grandchildren grow.
Catherine is survived by her children; Glenn (Deb), Gregg (Linda), Christel (Kevin) McCarty, Roger (Jan), daughter-in-law Lynn (Dave) Hammen, grandchildren; Megan , Noah, Aaron (Kristin), Bart (Lindsay), Anna, Audra (Dustin), Jacob (fiancé Katherine), Mary, Scott, Jordan (fiancé Mitch), and Jalynn Grosz, Ross (Melissa) Schultz, Andrea (Jason) Phillips, and Sarah (Mitch) Dolly, step-grandchildren; Melissa, Nathan and Megan McCarty, Great-grandchildren; Avery Grosz and Bennett Schultz, Lydia Schultz, Eliza, Leo and Veta Grosz, step-great-grandchildren; Chloe, Malachie McCarty, Theo and Sophia Deuberry, Kaden, Hezekiah, Aubrey, Silas, Paisley and Dominic McCarty,
Further survived by her brother William Bigge, many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Norman, son Bruce, 7 sisters and 4 brothers.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday July 27 at 11 a.m. at St Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in (206 1st St Armour South Dakota 57313) with Rev. Cathal Gallagher presiding. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery following the Mass. Memorials can be made to the charity of your choice.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff members at The Fields, Froedtert St Joseph Hospital in West Bend and the Froedtert Clinic in West Bend.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life for Catherine in West Bend at a later date to be announced.
