June Evelyn Behm

June was born on June 11, 1917 in Dane County to Clarence and M. Burnette Jarlsberg (nee Severson), their only child, and was very proud of her Norwegian heritage.

June graduated as Salutatorian from Cambridge High School (Class of 1934). She was the “class poet” and wrote a poem each week for the school newspaper. After graduation she moved to Madison and did secretarial work at various businesses. She was united in marriage to Arnold “Arnie” Behm on May 10, 1941 at Rockdale Lutheran Church in Rockdale, WI. Arnie passed away on January 3, 2012.

In 1955, after operating a turkey farm in Valders, Arnie and June moved down to West Bend. June began working, shortly thereafter, as a Legal Secretary for the O’Meara Law Office where she worked for 25 years until her retirement in 1982. June was always very talented in sewing, but after retirement, she decided to make baby quilts for all her great-grandchildren. Later, Arnie and June enjoyed spending their winters in Tucson, AZ where they made many wonderful friends. June never forgot a birthday or anniversary of her family or friends.
