Obituary | Karl “Bud” Taylor Jr., 78, of West Bend

March 2, 2020 – West Bend, WI – Karl “Bud” Taylor Jr., of West Bend passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee with his family and friends Irv and Terri Schroeder at his side.

He was born December 19, 1941 in West Bend to Karl Sr. and Marie (nee Jansen) Taylor. He attended St. Mary’s Grade School in Barton and graduated in 1959 from Badger High School in West Bend. Karl started working at Mercury Marine in Cedarburg before meeting his future wife, Beverly (nee Lewis) in 1965. They were married at St. Mary’s Church in Barton on September 10, 1966. Karl and Beverly have three children Jody (Michael) Filo, Darren (Jenny Fiebig) and Jessica (Michael) Rust. Karl went to MPTI to become a tool and die maker and completed his apprenticeship at Mayville Metal. He worked at AO Smith (later Tower Automotive) in Milwaukee before his retirement.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing and baseball. He taught Hunter’s Safety for 20 years. Karl loved listening to George Strait and was a lifelong Packer fan.

Karl is survived by his wife, Beverly, three children, five grandchildren Brittany (fiancé Levon Hudson) Filo, Jake (fiancée Megan Clarke) Filo, Nicole Rust, Charlie and Eli Taylor. He is further survived by his sister Carol (Perry) Swenson; brother Alec (Karen) Taylor; sister-in-law Edna (Murray) Schrader; brother-in-law Dennis Lewis; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Karl is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Ruth (Larry) Zingsheim, brother Robert, sister Maryann (Ben) Kappler and baby brothers Albert and Gerald.

A Funeral Service will be at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W Paradise Dr. West Bend, WI 53095, with Rev. Reesman presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday, March 7 from 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Interment will be in spring at New St. Mary’s Cemetery.
