Obituary | Leeroy ‘Roy’ Swanson, 82, of Kewaskum

April 14, 2019 – Kewaskum, WI – Leeroy “Roy” Swanson, 82, of Kewaskum, formerly of Milwaukee was called home to be with the Lord on April 12, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Roy was born on June 9, 1936 in Milwaukee to Sven and Florence Swanson  (Wilson).  He was united in marriage to Margaret “Midge” Pezdir on September 5, 1959 at St. Stephen’s Church in Milwaukee.

Roy graduated from Washington High School in 1954. Roy was enlisted in the United States Army and served as a Company Clerk in Germany. Roy attended University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He was a self-employed salesman his entire life. Roy also enjoyed woodworking, fishing and antiquing. Spending time with his children and grandchildren was the highlight of his life. He was member of the Kewaskum Kiwanis for many years.

Those Roy leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 59 years, Midge; three children, Carrie (Mark) Palmer, Joe (Kris) Swanson, and John (Holly) Swanson; six grandchildren, Drew Palmer, Eric (Jill) Swanson, Heidi (Steve) Meyer, Tyler (Shantelle) Swanson, Erin Swanson, Andrea Swanson; and one great-grandson, Avett Meyer.  He is further survived by his brother, Gordon (Joyce) Swanson; sister-in-law, Barbara (Richard) LaFleur, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his son, Robert Swanson on September 5, 2018.

Memorial Mass for Roy will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (331 Main Street – Kewaskum, WI  53040) with Father Jacob Strand officiating. Private inurnment at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Kewaskum at a later date.

Roy’s family will greet relatives and friends at Church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.  Memorials to Sarcoma Foundation of America.

Roy’s family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Gary Herdrich and the staff at Horizon Hospice and Right at Home In-Home Care for the loving care they provided.
