West Bend, Wi – It was December 2021 when WashingtonCountyInsider.com broke the story about West Bend Axe & Escape coming to West Bend in 2022. Steven Gill is opening the business at 1640 S. Main Street, in the strip mall at the Paradise Pavilion.
“This is going to be an all-ages environment,” said Gill. “Obviously kids can’t throw axes but 12 years old and above can participate and everyone can be involved in the escape rooms.”
Gill explained that every escape room has a theme, such as pirates or it’s haunted or a goldmine theme. “You go into the room and you’re either on a mission or trying to escape,” said Gill. “You’re looking for clues and it’s a game that last 60 minutes and if you complete the mission you win.”
Gill has another business, Falls Axe, in Menomonee Falls. He’s owned the Menomonee Falls shop for five years.

“Axe throwing is extremely popular right now,” he said. “It’s fun; kind of like darts on steroids.”
Gill has 2,560 square feet to work with in the building located next to Weight Watchers; he expects to employ 8 people.
“We’re currently working on our build out and we hope to be open in mid to the end of January 2022,” he said.
Gill is coming before the city council Monday, December 6, 2021 for his Class B liquor license which will cover beer and hard seltzer.
