April 30, 2022 – West Bend, WI – Big announcement as Holy Angels School in West Bend, WI has named its new principal. It was January 2022 when Anne Weise announced she would be resigning as principal at the end of the school year in June 2022.
Weise was initially appointed May 2019 when succeeding principal Mike Sternig, who retired after 45 years at Holy Angels.
Now, another changing of the guard as Michelle Spaeth will be taking over as the new principal.
I grew up in West Bend, and I come from a family of educators. My mother, Yvonne Wietor, taught in the West Bend School District for 38 years. My dad, David, was a teacher and high school counselor and then transitioned into human resources. My brother, Ryan, taught for 10 years in West Bend. And my husband, Tony, is in his 26th year teaching in the West Bend School District.

I was hired in West Bend after earning a degree in Elementary/Middle Level Education with a minor in Language Arts from St. Norbert College. During my time at St. Norbert, I embraced opportunities to grow as an educator, a Catholic, and a person. I student taught in Australia in a Reading Recovery classroom and participated in various mission trips with my campus priest, such as assisting at St. Benedict the African Catholic School in Chicago. During my first two years of teaching, I acquired my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
For the past 26 years, I have taught grades third-eighth in the West Bend School District, which has given me a deep understanding of the intellectual, social, and emotional development of children. I am passionate about helping students reach their full potential by building relationships with each child and his/her family. I’ve served in numerous leadership roles such as Chair of the Language Arts Committee, Team Leader, Content Leader, and I was currently in the process of pursuing National Board Certification.
Holy Angels School and Parish hold a special place in my heart. I’ve been a parish member since 1999, and my husband is a life-long member. Our children, Sydney, Christian, and Averie, are the fourth generation in the Spaeth family to attend Holy Angels School.
I am honored to have the opportunity to share my expertise and promote innovation in education while continuing to maintain Holy Angels’ traditions and culture. I am committed to collaborating with school and parish families, staff, and Reverend Howard, and I look forward to working together as a Catholic community.
Congratulations Michelle
