Obit: Roscoe “Rocky” Tackett, 77, of West Bend

June 25, 2017 – West Bend, WI – Roscoe “Rocky” Tackett age 77 of West Bend died Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Serenity Villa in Slinger, where he has been a resident for the past 5 years. He was born July 18, 1939 in Antigo to Roscoe and Helen (nee Fultz) Tackett and married Shirley A. Schumann on May 15, 1976 in Fond du Lac.

Rocky proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Following his discharge, he moved to the Cedarburg area and began working for Meta Mold as a die caster. He then worked for Cedarburg Carrier Corporation and later Kruepke Trucking until 1979 when he started working for Sadoff Iron And Metal. He worked for Sadoff for 27 years until his retirement.

Rocky was a proud grandfather, and cherished the time he spent with his family. He also enjoyed playing cards, camping, and his many friends.

Rocky is survived by his wife of 41 years, Shirley, 2 children: Steve Weyers of Neenah and Brenda (Jeff) Gonzalez of West Bend, and 5 grandchildren: Adam, Collin and Austin Weyers, and Elizabeth and Alex Gonzalez. He is further survived by his brother, Oscar “Sam” (Pearl) Tackett of Fond du Lac, a sister-in-law Debi Tackett of Fond du Lac, 2 brothers-in-law: Jerry (Betty) Schumann and Jim (Dawn) Schumann and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his son, Laurence Tackett, his parents Roscoe and Helen Tackett, his in-laws Charles and Edwina Schumann and 3 brothers: Eugene “Mike”, Hiram “Bob” and John “Bean”.

Rocky requested private services be held. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family are appreciated.

We would like to extend a special and heartfelt Thank You to the staff at Serenity Villa and Horizon Hospice for the loving and compassionate care given to Rocky.

As Rocky would say “I’m sure glad you got to see me.”

The Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend is serving the family.
