Motor Vehicle Theft 1717 HY 83 Rapid Mart

The Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a stolen auto at the Rapid Mart located at 1717 STH 83 in the Town of Erin on 9/10/16 at 9:10 p.m. The initial report was a 36-year-old Mequon man stopped for gas and when he went inside to pay, a subject exited the store and entered the victim’s vehicle.

The vehicle is described as a white 2005 Mercedes C24 4 door with Louisiana plates. The victim saw his vehicle go out the north entrance and then turn south on Highway 83. The victim ran after it, stood in the middle of 83, and was struck by the accelerating vehicle. The victim tumbled over the hood and windshield and fell off the passenger side of the vehicle taking the mirror with him. The vehicle then fled eastbound on 167. The victim refused rescue although he had multiple scrapes on his legs and arms.

The follow up investigation revealed that another vehicle described as possibly a blue Sorrento Kia with a temp tag on the back window, had dropped off the main suspect at the gas station. That vehicle also went eastbound after the theft. The only description(s) of the suspects at this point are that they are two male blacks. The investigation has been referred to the detective bureau for more follow-up.
