It was a very fast-paced game, that was over in just 90 minutes.

The Spartans did manage to string together a very impressive sixth inning offensively; three batters were hit by pitches and then senior Casey Gerber drove in two runs with an RBI double.

The final run of the game, also in the sixth inning, was scored off a Pirates’ error, which gave the Spartans a 3-0 lead that would carry them to victory.

Errors were costly for the Pirates as they surrendered four errors throughout the game.

Spartans’ sophomore starting pitcher Tayton Herron was lights out in this game. Although he allowed six hits, he walked only one batter and struck out nine in what was another complete game and win on the mound.

The Spartans will look to continue their fortunes with a home conference match against Slinger on Friday, May 28 at 5 pm.

The Pirates will play their next game at Cedarburg on Friday, May 28 at 5 pm.
