Oct. 13, 2017 – Barton, WI –Â A flag-draped coffin, Honor Guard, the firing of volley shots and a lone bugler playing Taps followed the funeral Thursday for Harold ‘Sonny’ Mapes.
The tri-cornered flag with blue field of stars was presented to Harold’s wife Betty.  “This flag is presented on behalf of a grateful nation and the United States Army as a token of appreciation for your loved one’s honorable and faithful service.”

Following the service at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Parish friends and family gathered to celebrate the life of Harold ‘Sonny’ Mapes.Â
Sonny died Thursday, Oct. 5. Â He was 87 years old.
Thanks for putting the presentation of the flag to Betty on Facebook. I would not have made it since my bilateral knee surgery is still quite painful. It was a lovely, memorable video. …. and I liked seeing the pictures of Sonny and Betty in their younger years.
