August 27, 2018 – Barton, WI – A special Mass of Dedication for the new altar at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Parish in Barton was held Sunday.
Bishop James Schuerman was on hand to oversee the anointing of the altar.
“The Altar is anointed with Sacred Chrism. In Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Orders, we are anointed with Chrism as well. Priests, Prophets, and Kings were anointed with oil in the Old Testament, and Jesus himself was anointed before his death by Saint Mary Magdalene. This anointing is a sign that our call to be a disciple of Christ finds its source in the Eucharist, celebrated on this altar.
